Algebra II

Course Description: Algebra II is intended to teach students the beginnings of mathematical abstraction. We assume that the student is already competent in arithmetic, geometry, and basic algebra. This class is intended to teach topics such as equations, inequalities, absolute value, factoring, rational expressions and rational exponents as well as how to solve quadratic equations and functions.

Course Objectives: By the end of this course,

  1. The student will be able to understand the ideas underlying equations as well as expressions.

  2. The student will be able to handle linear inequalities and quadratic functions.

  3. The student will be able graph many different types of functions.

  4. The student will be able to solve quadratic equations.

  5. The student will be able to factor certain types of polynomials.

Prerequisites: Algebra I

This course is typically offered in the Spring semester and is taught by Dr. Diener.
