Foreign Languages: German
At present, the only foreign language offered at Free Range Schoolhouse is German. The benefits of learning a foreign language are manifold; it allows the student to develop his or her own grammatical skills in general, to expand the horizons of what he or she is capable of reading and comprehending, and to speak with others from a foreign culture. In particular, German—which is closely related to English—offers the student the opportunity to study a language that is spoken today in many countries, including (naturally) Germany as well as Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, and Namibia, among others. German is a particularly important language in fields such as philosophy and theology, and it has had a tremendous influence in the historical development of Europe and the Western world as a whole. By studying German, students can gain a new skill while exercising their ability to comprehend, reason, and speak.
Courses in German are co-taught by Dr. Diener and Dr. Hobbs.
